Child Protection: Where We Stand!

LCF is first and foremost a Christian organisation, committed to reaching out to whole families including children and young people, sharing with them the good news of Jesus and the message of salvation as revealed in the Bible. Working with children and young people from our community is a privilege that we do not take for granted, and we seek to provide an environment where each child is valued, protected and enjoys engaging in our activities.

We believe it is important to protect the children and young people to whom we minister and our workers from any false accusations.  We have an awesome responsibility to care for children and to teach them by word and example who God is and what He requires of us. Children were clearly valued by Jesus and he spent time with them.

“Then the little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them --- Jesus said, ‘let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”  (Matthew19:13-15.)

Jesus also reminds us of the seriousness of harming children.

“But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believes in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea”.

(Matthew 18:6).

LCF is committed to safeguarding children and we believe our policies and practices are compliant, to the best of our knowledge, with current legislation. We also feel that the Bible places great emphasis on caring for children. We strive to ensure safe practices are developed, communicated and adhered to by all who are connected to the work of LCF and its associated activities. We will:

Have systems in place for dealing with concerns about possible abuse.

Ensure team members are aware of and act according to good practice.

Have regular training sessions to increase awareness and update our personnel on current legislation, as well as to give a voice to issues that may need to be addressed in order to improve our role in safeguarding children.

Notes:

By definition, Our Child Protection Policy uses the terms child, children and young person/people to cover anybody regarded by the law as a child.

Anyone with any issues relating to our policies or practices is welcome to contact us.

LCF will regularly review its policy and good practice.
